At The Eltham Foundation School our aim is to achieve excellence. The Student Council have a fundamental role in this as they give students a voice in the organisation and functioning of the school. Through them we hope to foster an ethos where the students appreciate their surroundings, encourage a caring community and establish an environment where achievement, self-esteem and excellence are valued by all.
The School Council meets monthly in year groups. Students contribute to the agenda and raise issues on behalf of other students in their tutor group.
Each tutor group has a Student Council Representative. The School Council is chaired by the Community Development Manager. The Student Council have been involved in fund-raising for the school, through Comic Relief, Children in Need, UNICEF, Help the Aged and Meningitis Awareness.
The School Council has a budget with the aim to improve the environment and put their ideas into motion. The School Council is involved in the organisation of social events too.
Every half term, Student Council representatives are invited for tea and cake with the Headteacher to discuss suggested school improvements. Most recently the Student Council have made changes to the canteen food so that there is more choice on offer.
