Why Remembrance Day and the Poppies are important to me.

Remembrance Day is important to me because I have a lot of respect for the soldiers that have fought in the war whether it’s in the past, present or the future. Also for the last 2 years, I was involved with being part of marching parade at Whitehall. I will be involved in the same thing this year, but locally in Eltham. When I marched in front of all the soldiers in Whitehall last year, I saw a great scene of soldiers, The Royal Family and members of the public coming together to show respect to the living and fallen soldiers that fought in the war. When I was marching along Whitehall, I saw hundreds of smiles on the faces of soldiers because there were so many people there to support them and to show their respect. It was and always will be an absolute honour and privilege to be involved. The best part of the day is seeing the smiles on the faces of the soldiers and the families, showing that they are proud of their heroes, just like I am.
I have raised a substantial amount of money for The Royal British Legion over the past 3 years by selling poppies to students and staff at The Eltham Foundation School. When myself and other students sell the poppies we always encourage as many people as possible to buy one and explain that the money raised is for a very good cause and for the heroes of the Nation
