At The Eltham Foundation School we believe in providing challenging learning experiences for students of all abilities. Every student with a particular gift or talent, whether it be academic, sporting, musical or social, has the right to be stretched and thereby to develop their expertise to the maximum.
This is achieved at The Eltham Foundation School in a variety of ways:
- Differentiated tasks and resources are used in all lessons
- Each student is carefully placed into a banded subject group to ensure work can be set at an appropriate level
- A wide programme of school study sessions providing opportunities for enrichment
- Regular monitoring, work reviews and target-setting
- Lunch time and after school study sessions
- Regular visits to universities from Year 7–11, including residentials
- Competitive sports teams and activities
- Extra-curricular clubs ranging from astronomy to philosophy
- Opportunities for public speaking and through Greenwich International Young People’s Conference
- Fast track curriculum
We have appointed an Achievement and Aspiration Coordinator, who has responsibility for identifying and assessing students and setting up a programme of enrichment activities. The programme includes partnerships with universities, industry, visual and performing arts organisations and sports bodies. We will also make extensive use of ICT connections in the City Learning Centre.
This initiative provides the opportunity to raise significantly standards of attainment and it brings an added richness to the curriculum we offer.
